KISS claim Rajat Memorial Inter-School hockey title

Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) emerged champions in the 7th Rajat Memorial Six-a-side Inter-School Hockey Tournament, hammering Sainik School by 7-0 goals in the all-Bhubaneswar final at Odisha Police High School Ground here today. KISS boys, in fact, achieved hat-trick by winning this tournament for third year in a row. KISS and Sainik School reached the final by winning all three of respective league matches today.

Sainik School defeated DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur (Bhubaneswar) 6-1, Giridharijew Vidyamandir, Kisannagar 1-0 and Odisha Police High School 3-0. KISS beat Lanjiverna Ashram, Rajgangpur 3-2, Odapada High School 11-0 and Dhenkanal Schools 1-0.

Altogether eight teams joined the two-day tournament, which was organised by Poonam Youth Welfare Organisation (PYWO). Damodar Pradhani from Krida Bharati joined the opening ceremony as chief guest. PYWO coach Gyanesh Kanungo, assistant secretary Jyotish Acharya and founder member Biswaranjan Sarangi were present on the occasion.

Hockey Odisha general secretary Pratap Satapathy and former editor of `The Samaja’ Satya Ray presented the trophy to the KISS team at closing ceremony. CWC chairman Bikash Mohapatra and Police High School headmistress Janaki Sahoo handed over the runners-up trophy to the Sainik School boys.
